Talk:Traffic Concern

From Peachtree Corners

There seems to be an increase in gridlock where East Jones Bridge meets Ingles Shopping Center and The Forum.

Ingles Side of Street: Currently those who want to turn right have to wait for the folks turning left to move. One way might to alleviate this might be to create another lane coming out of the Ingles Shopping center for those turning right.

Forum/BBT Side of Street: Tree Cut Down At Corner of East Jones Bridge and Forum Entrance I was wondering why they cut down a seemingly healthy older tree at entrance of East Jones Bridge from 141? Was the tree cut down because it was blocking folks vision who were trying to get out of the parking lot at the Forum/BBT Side?

I think the DOT needs to come up with an answer to this growing problem. --Dreadlock 13:10, 22 Feb 2007 (EST)

Hi Dreadlock! Welcome to the Wiki.  :-)
I'm not sure I understand the issue. Are you refering to traffic getting backed up coming out of the Ingles parking lot, turning right onto East Jones Bridge Rd being blocked by people turning left? Thanks in advance for the clarification! --Richard 22:06, 23 Feb 2007 (EST)

Hello Richard. Exactly. That is what I was referring to.

I wonder if the Ingles people (Who own the shopping center I think) can do something? Being private propety I'm not sure if the DOT would get involved. Feel free to use the new Traffic Concern page you created to document the problem and possible solutions and to rally some support for your cause. A map/satellite photo might help. I'll be by from time to time, so feel free to post any questions you have about how to use the Wiki. --Richard 17:07, 24 Feb 2007 (EST)

  • SOLUTION*

Hello Everyone - Here is what I do.

Exit the parking lot between Dunkin'Donuts and CVS back to 141 (Got to take right of course). Take a right back to East Jones Bridge Road. With just a Yield sign, you will be on East Jones Bridge Road before you know it.

My 2 cents!! -- Masterwoo 22:21, 2 Mar 2007

I agree with Masterwoo, during any traffic hours, I always exit onto Peachtree Parkway and loop around CVS to get to EJB, there's just too much going on at the EJB / Ingles intersection. --Allen 14:40, 5 Mar 2007 (EST)

Increasing traffic control issues need to be addressed now.

The traffic problems are on all sides of this instersection. In my short time living here I have seen several near misses, a few fenderbenders and one violent confrontation between drivers.

You have folks backed up on Bush Road trying to enter Medlock. Forget turning left off Medlock Bridge onto Peachtree Parkway in under 7 minutes. The traffic light there is overtimed and often does not sync with the light at the Forum. When it's green, it's green for less than a minute. So, what we have is people backed up in all lanes clogging traffic because they are trying to get through (every lane) before the light turns red. It's most horrible on weekday mornings. And what's worse is people are anticipating this buildup and it's feeding to erratic driving behavior.

On two occasions I have almost hit someone coming off Bush Road onto Medlock. Folks are trying to get through the yeild sign too quickly and are often not paying attention to the drivers coming down Medlock Bridge Rd. To alleviate this, they need to add another right hand lane to support traffic coming off Bush road or create a 'right turn on green only' lane.

Just last night I was at this intersection (on the CVS side) and a group of cars tried to beat the light. Two in particular, a motorcyclist and a guy driving a benz. The motorcyclist slammed on his brakes in the middle of the intersection (headed north on P'tree Pkway) and the guy driving the benz nearly hit him. The motorcyclist gets off his bike, takes off his helmet, throws it, and approaches the window of the benz guy and starts yelling about how he was being followed too close. The motorcyclist told the benz guy to get out of the car so he could "whip his m** f**ng a**." The benz guy got out of the car and the argument continued for about 2 minutes without getting physical. [Keep in mind traffic is backed up in all directions because no one can move around this.]

I think problems like this are increasing due to tension from traffic problems at this intersection. It's only going to keep getting worse unless we make some changes with the lights and roads to support all of the new traffic in this area.
