SAFETY RAZORS 1912-1949

(#42) CHRISTY, all silver colored metal, long slender body designer for lady shavers, top: "Christy"

(#42) Christy box, 4 3/8" x 1 7/8" x 3/4", navy color, cardboard construction, inside box top: "THE Christy ADVERTISER | This is a COMPLIMENTARY RAZOR and NOT TO | BE SOLD. |You can obtain additional blades from your dealer, price 35c per |package of 5 blades. |Every Razor and Blade GUARANTEED. | Each blade is hand stropped and hand tested individually.| THE CHRISTY SALES CO., FREMONT, OHIO |Manufactured by THE CHRISTY CO., Fremont, Ohio |Makers of Quality Safety Razors and Blades for over twenty years"

(#1) Kriss Kross, silver colored metal, grate along edge, head tilts from side to side. top front: "KRISS KROSS | PAT. NO. 1592540 ST LOUIS" top back: "PRESS"

1920's Kriss Kross Rotary Stropper, pat. 192?, silver color, top: "KRISS KROSS...", underside: "pat..."

Place blade in blade grip. Push down switch on side of housing. Rotate handle clockwise. Blade will be turned over after every three revolutions. After each side has had three revolutions on the strop the switch will click up one position automatically reducing pressure on the blade from the strop. After a total of nine revolutions per side the blade is ready for use again. The origins of the Rotary Stropper probably stem from the fact that people could not get used to the idea of throwing away part of their razor. Straight edge razors had been stropped for hundreds of years, why not strop safety razor blades?

(#25) Valet, gold colored metal, lever just under back of head locks blade holding flap in place, with lever in the up position the flap may be lifted for access to the blade, lifting flap also rotates gears on side of head and cylinder inside head, I'm guessing that the design lends itself to some sort of blade stropping ability but I'm not sure how it would work. top: "VALET", inside: "PATENT NOS. | 1,492,246, 1,639,335 | 1,770,170, 2,068,717"

(#25) 1912 Valet, silver colored metal, lever just under back of head adjusts blade edge up and down, lifting flap also rotates gears on side of head and cylinder inside head, I'm guessing that the design lends itself to some sort of blade stropping ability but I'm not sure how it would work, edge of blade holder has a rake edge, top of flap: "VALET | Auto Strop Razor", underside of flap: "AUTO STROP SAFETY RAZOR CO | NEW YORK, U.S.A.", underside, left: "PATENTED | APRIL 9, 1912", underside, right: "OTHER PATENTS | PENDING"

(#26) Ever-Ready, silver colored metal, hinged head top which snaps down to hold blade in place, six sided metal handle, grate along blade edge, inside: "Ever-Ready | BKLYN,N.Y. U.S.A | PAT. APP'D. FOR" underside: "1"
